Marriage License, Laws and General Information
You may apply for a marriage license at any County Clerk Office where you plan to be married. The County Clerk's offices are usually located in the county probate court or circuit court. Information below will give you the general procedures you must follow to obtain your license and the requirements for marriage.  Please read ALL the information below to make your special day occur without any problems. weddings

To obtain a marriage license within the state, the waiting period is:

License Expires

Once you have obtained a marriage license you have a period of time to get married or the license expires.  The license in this state will expire from date of issue in:

30 Days

 

Age Requirements

The minimum age to be married in the state without parental consent:

* However, If either party is younger one parent or legal guardian must be present. If a parent can not be present, due to death, separation, divorce or other circumstances, proper evidence must be presented for verification. Proper id is required, it is highly suggested you bring a birth certificate and photo id.

Widowed and Divorced Applicants

If previously married, the date of divorce or date of spouse's death must be provided. Applicants must wait at least 30 days after the divorce has been finalized before applying for a marriage license.
